The Regional Commander

HISTORY OF THE WESTERN POLICE COMMAND  

The Western Regional Police Command was established on 22nd November, 1970 and is located at Maxwell Road Sekondi. The first Regional Commander was ACP/Mr. E.K.  Ako and the current Regional Commander, DCOP/Mr. Isaac Alex Quainoo happens to be the 35th.  The Region is made up of four (4) Divisions namely: Sekondi, Tarkwa, Asankrangua and Sefwi-Wiaso.  The Sekondi and Tarkwa Divisions are headed by an Assistant Commissioner of Police, whilst the Asankrangua and the Sefwi Wiawso Divisions are headed by Chief Superintendent of Police.  The Region has Twenty (20) Districts and Eighty Seven (87) Police stations and post.  It has a total manpower of 2,053, made up of 1,561 males and 492 females.
