Upper West Region

The Upper West region is the last of the ten regions of Ghana and was created in 1983 in pursuance of the Government’s Decentralisation Programme. Initially it consisted of five districts, namely, Wa, Nadowli, Jirapa/Lambussie, Lawra.
The region has now eight (8) Districts namely, Wa Municipality, Nadowli, Jirapa/Lambussie, Lawra Sissala West, Sissala East, Wa East, and Wa West Districts.
