The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service works in plain clothes. The personnel of this branch are employed as specialists in connection with various aspects of crime detection.

The Gold Coast Police Force now called the Police Service was Formed in 1894 but the real police work started in the then Gold Coast, now the Republic of Ghana, in the year 1921.

Societe-General Bank-Ghana has donated forty (40) pieces of fairly used personal computers to the ICT Department of the Ghana Police Service at the National Police Headquarters in Accra. 

The donation which is worth thousands of Ghana cedis was basically one of the various Corporate Social Responsibilityproject embarked upon by the Bank to help contribute towards effective and adequate communication. 

Speaking on behalf of the Bank, Miss Angela Bonsu , assured  the Service that the Bank will continue to support the Ghana Police Service as well as other deserving entities. She commended the Police Service for the display of professionalism in the course of their performing duties.

She finally added that her outfit will continue to collaborate with the police in other areas for mutual benefits.

On his part, the Director– General/ICT, COP David Asante Apeatuexpressed the administration’s appreciation forthe kind gesture and also appealed to other corporate entities to emulate such example. 

Mr. Appeatu concluded by thanking SG-Ghana and promised that the items donated would be put to good use.

Personnel of the Ghana Police Marine Unit have been charged to join hands with stakeholders of the fisheries industry to fight illegal, Unregulated and Unreported Fishing [IUU] in Ghana.

The Military and the Police have resolved to strengthen co-operation towards improved security and maintenance of law and order in the country.
