The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service works in plain clothes. The personnel of this branch are employed as specialists in connection with various aspects of crime detection.

The Gold Coast Police Force now called the Police Service was Formed in 1894 but the real police work started in the then Gold Coast, now the Republic of Ghana, in the year 1921.

GHANA POLICE FEMALE HOCKEY TEAM ADJUGED THE BEST IN THREE SUCCESSIVE YEARS

The Ghana Police female hockey team has been adjudged the best in the national hockey league. The team has won the league in three consecutive years without a challenger. 

Six of the players are currently part of the national hockey team which participated in the Olympic qualifiers that took place in South Africa. They are: constables Linda Sasu, Ceceilia Amoako, Martha Safoaa, Serwaa Boakye and Abigail Boye.

While in South Africa for the qualifiers, Abigail Boye won the best goalkeeper of the tournament, Nafisa Umaru won the best player of the tournament, and Martha Safoaa adjudged the goal queen of the tournament.

Personnel of the Ghana Police Marine Unit have been charged to join hands with stakeholders of the fisheries industry to fight illegal, Unregulated and Unreported Fishing [IUU] in Ghana.

POLICE MILITARY TO STRENGTHEN TIES

The Military and the Police have resolved to strengthen co-operation towards improved security and maintenance of law and order in the country.
