The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service works in plain clothes. The personnel of this branch are employed as specialists in connection with various aspects of crime detection.

The Gold Coast Police Force now called the Police Service was Formed in 1894 but the real police work started in the then Gold Coast, now the Republic of Ghana, in the year 1921.

Kantanka Group of Companies has donated a made in Ghana four-wheel drive pick-up to the Ghana Police Service in Accra.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the Ag.Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mr. Kwadwo Sarfo Junior, who handed over the vehicle to the police, indicated that the donation is as a result of the good work the Police are doing in providing security and maintaining peace in the country. 

“We intend to support the Police with more vehicles so as to make them more efficient in their work”- he stressed. 
Mr. Sarfo concluded that such donations are done to promote national development.

On his part, the Inspector- General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan thanked the Kantanka Group of companies for the donation and stated that it came at the right time regarding the logistical constraints of the service due to the ever growing strength and creation of additional police divisions, districts and stations across the country. 

He reiterated that the vehicle will help the Police beef up its patrol duties and thereby  help offer a better service to the good people of Ghana. 

Mr. Alhassan concluded by assuring the group that the car will be put to good use and also appealed to individuals, groups and philanthropists to emulate the kind gesture of the Kantanka Group of Companies.

Present at the function were Director- General PIPS, COP Joana Osei- Poku, Director-General Administration, COP Rose Bio Atinga, Director-General CID, COP Prosper Agblorh Director-General Reserch, Planning and ICT, COP David Asante Apeatu,  Director-General Legal, ACP Frank Kwofie and other Senior Police Officers.
