HISTORY OF THE GHANA POLICE CHURCH
ODORKOR - BRANCH
Ghana Police Church, Odorkor-Branch which is Inter-denominated began as a crusade organized by the Kaneshie Christian Fellowship at the Police Barracks Odorkor in July 1981. The purpose is to meet the spiritual needs of the police personnel and their families, the Bank of Ghana staff who lives in the Bank Quarters nearby and the General public living in the environs. The Christian fellowship was established as the church at the Odorkor Barracks in November 1981. The Police Administration graciously first offered the police Canteen of the Odorkor Barracks to be used as the place of worship and later a parcel of land was given to enable the church to have a permanent place of worship. The sod cutting ceremony for the church building which we are today dedicating was performed on behalf of the I.G.P. by the then C.O.P. (Administration) Mr. S. O. Asare. Since then the construction of the church building has been progressing steadily under the Ministers appointed to the church, namely Rt. Rev. B. D. Quansah, Rev. Adusu and the current Reverend Minister Deputy Superintendent of Police Rev. Hannah Sackey, with each Minister initiating or completing a major role.
On Sunday 24th August 2008, the then (IGP) Mr. Patrick Kwasi Kwarteng Acheampong, (DIGP) Mrs. Elizabeth Mills Robertson and Mr. Paul Tawiah Quaye Commission of Police Welfare dedicated the church and cut sod for church hall. Our special gratitude to Police Administration and the Police church Accra.
